~ Technovation Challenge Regional Pitch Competition ~

You are cordially invited to the Morning Session of the Technovation Challenge South Bay Pitch Competition!

Watch as teams of high school girls from all over Silicon Valley present their mobile app design and business plan in front of a panel of judges, showing off the skills they learned in the 2012 Technovation Challenge program.

Light refreshments will be offered during the live app demo period from 9-10 am, where you'll have an opportunity to meet the girls, see their apps, and mingle with industry leaders and budding entrepreneurs.

At 10:15 am, the pitches will begin, followed by a presentation by our keynote speaker, Ben Horowitz (Co-Founder and General Partner, Andreessen Horowitz ) and an awards ceremony.

 Our panel of judges includes:

David Lieb (Co-founder and CEO, Bump Technologies, Inc.)

Neeraj Choubey (Director of Product Management, Dell)

Lorraine Akemann (Co-founder, Moms With Apps)

Yan-David Erlich (Founder and CEO, Happiness Engines)

Julia Hu (Founder and CEO, LARK)

Curtiss Pope (CEO, AisleFinder.com)

The Technovation Challenge Program

This spring, over 500 high-school girls from around the country took part in the challenge to build the most innovative mobile app using App Inventor for Android.  Courses are hosted by Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Adobe, Twitter, UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

During the ten-week program, students utilize principles from the Lean Business Model and the Design Thinking process as they develop a prototype, do market research, write a business plan, and formulate a "pitch" for the final competition.  Each team is supported by both a classroom teacher "coach" and a female mentor from the technology industry.

The winning team from each regional pitch competition (in NY, LA, Boston, and 7 sites in the Bay Area) will go on to compete in a national pitch night on May 3rd where the grand prize is professional app development and distribution on the Android Market.

Admission to the South Bay Pitch Competition is free. However, you may wish to show your support by making a small donation to Technovation. Simply select a "donation-based" ticket to sponsor one of the participating South Bay schools.  We appreciate your contribution!
